Wij kiezen voor watertransitie! Jij ook?

In 1962 maakte president John F. Kennedy met een inspirerende, gedurfde speech – ook bekend als de Moonshot speech – Amerika rijp voor een kostbaar maar zeer succesvol ruimtevaartprogramma, een programma waarin duizenden Amerikanen hun kennis, inzichten en energie samenbalden om de eerste mens voet op de maan te laten zetten. Met succes. Slechts zeven jaar later, op 20 juli 1969, was het zover.
Kennedy’s moonshot speech staat nog altijd symbool voor alles wat we kunnen bereiken als we ergens met elkaar de schouders onder zetten. Dat geldt ook voor de grote uitdagingen waar we in het waterbeheer voor staan. Het is een oproep om samen de watertransitie die daarvoor nodig is, in gang te zetten. Omdat het nodig is, maar vooral omdat we het willen, vanuit de overtuiging dat we het kunnen.
In interviews ter voortzetting van de webinarreeks Klimaatrobuuste Watersystemen (bekijk hier de opnames van de webinars), vragen we een aantal wetenschappers, waterbeheerders, adviseurs en mensen uit de praktijk naar hun persoonlijke moonshot en de inzet die ze daarvoor plegen. Want we kunnen wel wat moonshot thinking gebruiken: wild en gedurfd. De moonshots zijn bedoeld voor jou, ter inspiratie en motivatie om mee te helpen het waterbeheer structureel anders, beter, eerlijker en klimaatrobuuster in te richten.

This spring, Witteveen+Bos organised a ten-part webinar series that looked in more detail at where the problems lie, exploring different perspectives and solutions for the #watertransition. The webinars were recorded and are now available to watch. We have also produced an inspiring booklet on the series, featuring convincing examples. And finally, every two months we publish a blog post featuring an interview with an influential professional sharing their vision on the #watertransition. So, there’s plenty to think about.
