Bridges

The Netherlands has many bridges, ranging from large bridges connecting riverbanks to small pedestrian bridges in urban environments. Witteveen+Bos has extensive experience in movable bridges. We design complete movable bridges or components of movable bridges for domestic and international clients. The many specialists involved in the associated process are subject to centralised coordination. Our project leaders work with a team of electrical engineers, civil engineers, specialists in control technology and machine safety, and structural specialists. In addition to new movable bridges, a large proportion of our projects involves replacements and renovations.

For non-movable steel bridges, Witteveen+Bos has developed methods to define construction, reinforcement and renovation processes. For that purpose, we conduct simple exploratory calculations or detailed recalculations, using the wide-ranging expertise available within our organisation. Replacements or renovations will often involve inconvenience for users. Together with our road designers and project phasing specialists, we will devise solutions combining a long service life and minimal inconvenience during the implementation phase.
