Railway engineering works

The design of dive-unders, bridges and viaducts in and around railways requires knowledge of train operation and railway infrastructure design. This is because projects are implemented on operational railways tracks, and the construction method and phasing are very specific and aimed at minimal disruptions to the train schedules.

Witteveen+Bos holds the accreditation for ‘Rail-bearing’ and ‘Non-rail-bearing’ Civil Engineering and Utility Structures for the Dutch railway infrastructure manager ProRail. These accreditations allow work on all structures and buildings on and around the track for the railway infrastructure manager as well as other public authorities and market participants. Characteristic of our approach is the multidisciplinary approach. In addition, ample attention is paid to embedding projects in the environment (engagement and stakeholder management). Our expertise in road infrastructure, spatial development, urban planning and environmental policy enables us to include that environment in every rail project and advice.
