Many civil engineering assets, such as bridges, viaducts, quays, locks and weirs, as well as flood defences and drinking water and wastewater plants, were built in the 1960s and 1970s. Many of these assets need to be renovated, modified or replaced. Witteveen+Bos supports asset managers such as the Dutch Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management, TenneT, DPO, the Central Government Real Estate Agency, port authorities, developers and industrial clients throughout this process. We advise on the inspection, assessment, management and modification of existing and new assets.

Smart and effective

Smart and effective asset management is essential for several reasons: firstly, to ensure safety, availability and reliability for users, and secondly to control costs. Availability and reliability also play a vital role for newly designed and constructed assets. Controlling the performance, risks and costs during the operational phase of these assets is essential for ensuring long-term and optimal use and maintenance.

provide insights into performance, risks and costs and to recommend the right management and maintenance measures.

Sustainability and the circular economy are an integral part of our advisory services. We look at the whole life cycle. For example, our advice on material use and the reuse of raw materials contributes to socially responsible design.
