Nature-inclusive design for Evides

Witteveen+Bos creates designs based on sustainable design principles, such as ‘Design with nature’, using natural processes to reinforce the design. Working with nature instead of against nature.

Based on this principle, together with Evides Waterbedrijf and Buro Kade Witteveen+Bos has created a design for a new decarbonation building for Evides' Ouddorp drinking water production site. Buro Kade has designed a simple, functional building that is compatible with the design of the existing buildings and the surrounding area. Witteveen+Bos was responsible for the interior (systems, etc.) of the building in close collaboration with Evides.

Furthermore, the insights of our ecological experts made the design more nature-inclusive. For example, the project uses a combined sedum roof and dune roof and there is room for a bat bunker and nesting box for wheatear songbirds. ‘Nature-inclusive buildings are the future,’ says Charlotte Mekel of Witteveen+Bos. ‘We want to help any interested companies with our expertise.’
