Smart energy hubs
Grid congestion: turning challenges into opportunities
Smart energy hubs
Due to growing grid congestion, companies increasingly face restrictions hindering electrification and expansion. A smart energy hub could solve this problem. It is a local energy system that integrates and intelligently controls energy generation and storage to make the energy grid efficient and flexible. Witteveen+Bos supports municipalities and companies - from individual companies to entire business parks - in developing these future-proof solutions.
Innovation with our own smart energy hub tool
Using a tool we have developed in-house, we accurately map the future energy profiles of companies based on measurement data and interviews. We use that input to analyse and advise which companies can best collaborate in sharing grid capacity in order to reduce grid congestion.
The tool also examines the effectiveness of measures such as additional battery capacity, additional solar or wind power, smart demand-side management and sharing contractual capacity. By combining these insights with cost analyses, we offer rapid support in identifying the most cost-effective solutions.
Through this approach, Witteveen+Bos helps companies and municipalities turn grid congestion problems into opportunities for sustainable development and future-proof growth.
