The story of Noortje Romeijn

‘It is great to experience that at Witteveen+Bos, you can really contribute to water management in the Netherlands (and beyond). Being meaningful to society is very important to me.’

My graduation project revolves around a very hot topic: a new form of water level management, namely management based on groundwater level. Last summer again showed that water management in the Netherlands is under pressure from the effects of climate change. This relevance makes the research even more interesting.

For my graduation, I spent eight months working at Witteveen+Bos within the Flooding Group to complete my master’s degree in Civil Engineering (in water management) at TU Delft. It is great to experience that at Witteveen+Bos, you can really contribute to water management in the Netherlands (and beyond). Being meaningful to society is very important to me.

As a graduating student, I am involved in everything. The open atmosphere soon made me feel at home. The idea for my research was initiated by Witteveen+Bos, but in consultation with my supervisor and TU Delft, I was able and allowed to put my own spin on it. To achieve an optimal result, I receive full support: my supervisor and colleagues, for instance, help me get in touch with the right people. This has even resulted in collaboration with a water authority. In short: this graduation project is a unique opportunity!
