The Story of Karen Reinders

A different challenge every day keeps my work exciting

For the past two years, I've been working in the Hydraulic Engineering Design Group. Fresh from my studies, I got involved in designing dykes in Civil3D. At the start of my career, my work mainly consisted of drawing. That gradually changed into real design work. Over the past two years, I've also seen a transition from ‘old-fashioned’ 2D work to parametric design.

As a designer, you play an important role in projects. Our task is to convert the results of a calculation into an accurate 3D model, and to localise and resolve any problems. What I enjoy about my job is that you design something that will later actually be built. Another challenge is finding solutions in a design to make your model feasible. No problem is the same, so you are always involved in something unique.
