The story of Joris Schoolderman

‘Witteveen+Bos has given me the opportunity to fulfill my international ambitions.’

I have always been attracted to international projects at the interface of civil engineering and infrastructure. Witteveen+Bos has given me the opportunity to fulfil these international ambitions. Since 2009, I have contributed as a port engineer to projects both at home and abroad, in countries such as Oman, Kazakhstan and Indonesia. Working with (international) teams and clients from all over the world has allowed me to enrich my knowledge of port engineering to the fullest.

I am now more involved in project management. I have really come to like the complexity and multidisciplinarity of infrastructure projects more and more over the years. The technical challenges, but also the human side. A new type of quay wall that should also be integrated into existing infrastructure? Working together with different international offices and different cultures? These are challenges I love to tackle head on.

In January 2024, I started as team leader of the new Global Port Solutions group. In this new role, I want, among other things, to provide young colleagues with opportunities to contribute to international port projects. And also: inspire them to follow a similar path.
