York Castle Gateway Development Masterplan

The York Castle Gateway Development Masterplan is a bold vision for a strategic site in central York with historic significance and high flood risk at the confluence of the River Ouse and the River Foss.

Our role was to provide an integrated transport approach to unlock development potential for the site. Proposals included maximising new potential walking and cycling routes, enhancing junctions while retaining or improving vehicle capacity, and reconnecting severed areas of the city including a new walking and cycling bridge. We introduced and verified the dimensional and capacity feasibility of a number of innovations which have been adopted to realise the socio-economic potential of development sites.
