Promenade des Fleurs Luxembourg City

Promenade des Fleurs is the name of the urban plan for the development of the Kennedy-Süd district in the city of Luxembourg. Witteveen+Bos developed the complete design in collaboration with URBIS Urban Design and BoschSlabbers Landscape Architects. The plan of the Promenade des Fleurs won the competition because it effectively integrates the large scale of the European district of Luxembourg with the small scale of the existing adjacent district. Our main goal was to integrate urban life into the surrounding neighbourhoods and green areas.

The future district covers an area of 16 hectares and will accommodate approximately 2,000 people. Witteveen+Bos was responsible for implementing and anchoring sustainability aspects in the design, including energy-efficient buildings and systems. We also designed a robust and future-proof water system for the area. Our winning design is currently being developed in more detail. Construction work is scheduled to start in 2018 and will take between 15 and 20 years.
