The Grand Hotel Dubai is a luxury city resort and one of Dubai’s most famous and historical landmarks, with stunning skyline and creek views. The client requested an extension to the existing hotel layout, including the addition of an exhibition centre. The exhibition centre was envisioned as a state-of-the-art events hall, boasting over 5,000m2 of multi-purpose facilities. Our task was to blend the new building into the existing, mature landscape. Maintaining the luxurious five-star experience was also key.
Applying a ’lush green’ concept, our design looked at various greening strategies aimed at creating an inviting and attractive atmosphere for visitors. Green walls, shaded walkways, integrated stepped planters, and tree groves were all significant components that helped tie the overall landscape design together and create a wealth of different spaces and vistas. A large, open lawn area provides the venue for outdoor events, with endless possibilities for social occasions, trade shows, exhibitions, weddings, or large corporate meetings. The landscape design also catered to the different levels of privacy required to separate the event areas from public spaces.
