The drinking water and wastewater industries face several challenges, including significant renovation and replacement tasks. To help them address these challenges, the Zuiver alliance has been formed by Dura Vermeer, ADS Groep, Hoppenbrouwers, Haskoning, and Witteveen+Bos.

Innovative solutions

The drinking and wastewater industries must renovate or replace their facilities and increase the sustainability of their operations. For the drinking water industry, growing demand and temporary droughts have made water availability a major challenge. At the same time, the Water Framework Directive (WFD) has significant implications for treatment processes in the wastewater industry. Under the WFD, EU countries must meet 2027 targets for improving water quality.

To address these challenges – which continue to increase in size – and ensure the quality and sustainability of water sources in theNetherlands, the five parties in Zuiver have joined forces. As a powerful alliance that combines the individual parties’ knowledge, expertise and resources, they are now even more capable of providing high-quality, innovative solutions for drinking water companies and water authorities in the Netherlands.

Optimal combination for optimal results

For each project Zuiver works on, the optimal combination of parties for achieving a successful result is assessed. Currently, Zuiver is working (under the name Combinatie Zuiver) on the Fikkersdries and Noardburgum projects for Vitens, which is modernising and renovating these treatment plants. And for the Rijnland water authority, Zuiver is working (under the name ZUIVER-ÉN) on the Haarlem Waarderpolder project, which is renovating and expanding this wastewater treatment plant.
