Witteveen+Bos opens office in Eindhoven
On Monday 26 August 2024, Witteveen+Bos opened an office in Eindhoven. The opening ceremony was performed by prof.dr.ir. Theo Salet, dean of the TU/e Built Environment department and Witteveen+Bos director Eveline Buter. The office is housed in business building Microstad, located between the TU Eindhoven campus and Eindhoven Central Station.
The set-up for office Eindhoven is similar to previous W+B campus offices in Wageningen and Groningen. The campus office in Eindhoven is themed ‘Materials of the future’, and will focus on the development and application of new, sustainable (building) materials. It is a long-cherished wish for many Witteveen+Bos employees to also have a springboard in this region.
Lasting relationship
Witteveen+Bos has long maintained a close relationship with TU/e. Many colleagues studied at this university, and over the years two Witteveen+Bos staff have even become professors there. There is also substantive cooperation, for instance in research into 3D concrete printing. Among other things, this has led to the Milestone project in Eindhoven.
A pied á terre in Eindhoven provides an additional work location for Witteveen+Bos staff. For example, to carry out the work resulting from the framework agreement with the municipality of Eindhoven - which was officially awarded at start of August - from a location that provides for the familiar business infrastructure.
Working together
Eveline Buter: ‘Society is facing major transitions in which a lot of momentum is needed to meet those challenges, for instance in the field of developing new, bio-based building materials. Or by working on new construction methods with 3D concrete printing, which can be significant in accelerating the construction task. We are already working on such initiatives, and having an office on site allows us to build on that.'
As Theo Salet put it, before cutting the ribbon with Eveline Buter: ‘What I hope is that this marks the beginning of a new flowering period in our cooperation. That we can link theoretical knowledge with practical application, thus tapping into the origins of how the Built Environment faculty once started: from the need to bring different disciplines together, to work on new knowledge and developments in interaction with the market.'
Campus offices
Witteveen+Bos is experimenting with campus offices close to colleges and universities that are important to us. These are places where Witteveen+Bos staff, students, clients and partners can meet and learn from each other in an approachable way.
