Witteveen+Bos opens campus office near the University of Sheffield
Witteveen+Bos has opened a campus office near the University of Sheffield. This milestone is in line with our strategy to proactively encourage the exchange of knowledge between the academic world and the business community.
Witteveen+Bos has now been active in the United Kingdom for over ten years. In recent years, our focus has been primarily on issues relating to the energy transition.
Heat Zoning programme
Commissioned by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), we have contributed to the Heat Zoning pilot programme over the past four years to identify suitable locations for heat networks.
Together with Sheffield City Council, we have recently finalised the tender document within the Advanced Zoning Programme (AZP) for the selection of a developer for future heat networks in Sheffield.
Ideal gateway
Sheffield and the University of Sheffield are the ideal location for us to reopen our ‘UK office’. For Witteveen+Bos, Sheffield is the ideal gateway to the Midlands and the UK; we enjoy a very pleasant relationship of collaboration with Sheffield City Council within an extremely welcoming and open culture.
The University of Sheffield is also a leading university in the United Kingdom through its ‘Energy Institute’. 300 researchers are engaged in research, innovation and collaboration relating to the energy transition.
‘Expanding our services’
Martijn Akkerman, Director of Witteveen+Bos UK Ltd.: ‘Opening our campus office is a great next step in expanding our services in the British energy market. And certainly also to offer talented individuals a place where academic knowledge can be applied and further developed on projects.’
