For now, the construction chain is not yet a frontrunner when it comes to digitalisation. To make progress, an integral approach is needed, including new forms of collaboration with the entire chain. NLingenieurs calls on all parties in the construction chain to make digitalisation concrete and to start a dialogue with each other.

Joseph Kuling, chairman of Bouw Digitaliseringsraad (BDR), was handed the position paper 'Digitalisation in the engineering and consultancy sector: faster and more sustainable together' on 15 March by Willemien Bosch (director NLingenieurs) and Otto Schepers (chairman of the NLingenieurs community Digitalisation and head of Digital Engineering Experiences at Witteveen+Bos) on behalf of the community.

With this position paper and the concrete digitalisation agenda, NLingenieurs gives substance to the digiAkkoord, which was signed by 61 chain partners in March 2023. In the position paper, the branch asks the government, clients and cooperation partners to invest in digitalisation and set joint goals.

NLingenieurs calls for:

  • Develop and increase digital skills among all parties in the chain;
  • Scale up digitalisation, with the government taking the lead;
  • Promote open standards and knowledge sharing with a special focus on international developments.
