Like many other municipalities, Oss faces the (VenR) task of replacing or renovating its infrastructure. This includes the area around its port and the important objects that help provide access to it from the Meuse.

To help it carry out this task, the Municipality of Oss concluded a framework agreement with Witteveen+Bos. On 22 August, this agreement was signed in the wedding hall at Oss’s town hall by Auke de Wit (business unit manager, Life Cycle Management – Witteveen+Bos) and Frank den Brok (councillor for economy, business parks and port – Municipality of Oss).

Scope

The framework agreement was awarded in June. It consists of an initial contract term of six years and two optional two-year extensions. The Municipality estimates the value of the assignment for the maximum ten-year period to be around € 1.3 million.

The scope of the agreement includes water-related activities for the entire port area. Already, several major projects are planned for the coming years. These include the bridge and lock in Macharen, both of which are owned by the Municipality. These objects will be given new operation and control systems, and the lock will also be raised as part of the national flood protection programme.

Multidisciplinary team

To carry out this task, Witteveen+Bos will deploy a multidisciplinary team. Its areas of expertise will include electrical, mechanical and civil engineering; contract, risk, and engagement and stakeholder management; and (on-site) supervision.

Since 2021, Witteveen+Bos has been supporting the Municipality of Oss with advice and (on-site) supervision for the maintenance and conservation work being carried out by the maintenance contractor on the bridge and lock.
