Feasibility of solar panels on station roofs

ProRail awarded Witteveen+Bos the contract to investigate the feasibility of installing solar panels on the station roofs at twelve station locations.

ProRail wants the Solar Panels on Transfer Roofs programme to clarify which assets are suitable for the production of solar energy so as to contribute to its objective of being energy-neutral by 2030. Previous studies showed that the transfer roofs at stations (platform roofs, passageway roofs and bicycle sheds) are very promising. Depending on an initial analysis, in-depth studies will be conducted to determine how many panels can be used at each location. Witteveen+Bos uses its knowledge on sustainable energy, electrical engineering, constructions and knowledge of station locations to achieve robust results.
