High-voltage

Integrated approach to future-proof high-voltage infrastructure

High-voltage

The steady electrification of our society and economy is increasing the demand for electrical energy as well as its supply. As a result, the transmission capacity of our high-voltage infrastructure is proving insufficient in more and more locations. Consequently, the waiting lists for new connections are long. Reinforcement and expansion can provide the solution. Witteveen+Bos is playing an integrated role in this process by not only providing technical designs but also advising on spatial planning (integration) and permits.

Acceleration through an integrated approach

Carrying out high-voltage projects is complex and requires an integrated approach. With our knowledge on all aspects of executing these projects, we can ensure that technical designs are optimally adapted to the area they affect. This results in faster permit processes and avoids changes to the design being required.

Broad expertise

Witteveen+Bos possesses multiple years of experience on high-voltage projects, on which we have been involved in every aspect – from (feasibility) studies on spatial planning to engagement and stakeholder management, permits, and technical designs. Our knowledge on electrical engineering installations at high-voltage substations and connections is complemented by expertise on primary, secondary and tertiary levels, telecoms, EMC, civil engineering, and cable and line connections. We apply system engineering on our projects and use digital tools and BIM to optimally align our expertise with client requirements. It is our contribution to accelerating the energy transition.

We apply our knowledge to topical issues including:

  • the design of new high-voltage substations and the expansion of existing substations;
  • the design of new routes for high-voltage cables and lines.
