Medium and high-voltage technology
Grid reinforcement and expansion
With the increasing electrification of our living environment, our onshore and offshore power grid is being expanded. It is essential to expand and/or reinforce the power grid in order to be able to transmit the increased amounts of power. Failure to do so will have far-reaching consequences for expansion of industrial and residential activities.
In concrete terms, reinforcement or expansion means redesigning, expanding or renovating high and medium-voltage substations. The high-voltage connections also require expansion and modernisation, for example to bring electricity from offshore wind turbines ashore.
Witteveen+Bos has years of experience in the field of high and medium-voltage technology. For projects in this specialisation, we often use a multidisciplinary approach, combining expertise from experts in energy transition, electrical engineering and renewable energy. This is how we arrive at the best solutions for our clients.
Witteveen+Bos high and medium-voltage specialists work on current issues such as:
- The design of new high-voltage substations/expansions of existing substations, especially in the context of energy transition
- The design of cable routes for high-voltage plants
- Implementation designs for the maintenance and renovation of high-voltage substations, both primary and secondary
Our advice includes:
- EMC influence, earthing and magnetic field calculations
- Scenario and feasibility studies
- Load balancing
- Contract preparation and tender supervision (including UAV-GC contracts)
