Data science is a discipline that creates value for clients by leveraging data, including big data. Processing and using data (or big data) as an area expertise within Witteveen+Bos is growing.

Before using data, it is important to verify its quality. That is why each data issue starts off with a quality assessment using our data validation algorithm toolbox, for example when running real-time validations of data from a monitoring system or measuring programme. We then use our knowledge and experience in applied statistics and mathematics to see which combinations of data, analyses and visualisations contribute to a better understanding of the issue at hand. The data science process not only produces new information but also  frequently leads to new insights. We are proud these insights give rise to new opportunities in the solutions that we propose. Our data science skills, including programming, data fusion and the application of neural networks, are regularly used to create data or information products as part of a software development team. We also advise clients about how to integrate data management in their organisation, and we offer customised training courses.
