In the battle for talent, I can fully exploit my worth as a marketer

In 2023, Jocelyn Paul joined Witteveen+Bos as an online marketer. Part of her job involves marketing Witteveen+Bos as an attractive employer. Targeted campaigns and a new company website are some of the tools she uses for this.

Data-driven working

‘Before Witteveen+Bos, I worked at the furniture store Eijerkamp, where I was responsible for e-commerce and online campaigns. I got used to working in a very data-driven way there. Each week, I performed analyses, and then we adjusted our content and strategy based on the results. I’ve brought that method of analysis with me to Witteveen+Bos. My colleagues are really excited by the insights data can provide. We use them, for example, when designing campaigns to attract new employees. In the battle for talent – but also when promoting a course or area of expertise – I can fully exploit my worth as a marketer.’

Custom content

‘Witteveen+Bos’s website is very important for the company. More than 50 % of the site’s visitors are jobseekers. Our aim, of course, is to get them to apply for a job that appeals to them. Personally, I find the analytics side of the website most interesting. It’s cool seeing where visitors come from, which pages are well visited, and why that is. We can then apply that knowledge to other parts of the site.

Together with a project team, I’m working on a new website that will enable us to serve visitors even better. On the new site, we can display content based on location. Someone visiting it in Singapore, for example, will see projects and news relevant to Asia. We’ve also significantly improved the search function, so that both via Google and on the site itself, you’ll soon find what you’re looking for faster. That’s important because visitors quickly lose interest if they’re not given exactly what they want.’

Starters programme

‘Together with a group of ten other new employees, I’m following Witteveen+Bos’s starters programme, especially designed for young professionals. Personal development is the programme’s focus. We develop interpersonal skills and learn to reflect on our behaviour. I learned, for example, that I become very task-oriented whenever a deadline approaches. I now appreciate even more how important it is to be mindful of the people you work with. Insights like that help me progress. The starters programme is also a great way to get to know Witteveen+Bos – not the smallest company! – better.
