The story of Eline Kompanje
After working for some time in biology (laboratory technician in a neuroscience lab), I discovered that my real passion lay somewhere else: in IT. Or more specifically: coding. The decision was quickly taken. I decided to acquire the basic principles of programming and then look specifically for an opportunity to retrain fast as a software developer.
Six months later: I had learned the basics and could start on a traineeship (intensive boot camp to enable me to enter the field of programming at a good level). Several months after that: boot camp completed, tick. And now the challenge was to find a company that fits my needs. It was important to me that the company was sustainable and innovative, as well as (obviously) being involved in digitisation.
Witteveen+Bos was the right place for me. They are focused on sustainability and not only work hard in the fields of water, infrastructure, the environment and construction, they are also very much involved in developing digital products. This means there is a wide range of diverse projects.
Furthermore, there is a great deal of flexibility at Witteveen+Bos. This allows me to develop in the direction that suits me. I like to develop full stack but with a focus on back-end development. I have also noticed a great deal of openness here with respect to initiatives and ideas, which obviously benefits the digital transition. In short, I feel at home in this company!
