Redevelopment and transformation of central station area

The municipality of Utrecht has redeveloped the urban area surrounding the city’s central station. Within this large-scale redevelopment project in the public domain, traditional structures such as the Catherijsesingel and the Leidsche Rijn have been renovated. Furthermore, new infrastructure has been developed to provide high-quality public transport. The creation of a large-scale real-estate development plan was also part of the city’s transformation programme.

Witteveen+Bos has been closely involved in the transformation of the Utrecht central station area. Our role included the restructuring and redevelopment of Van Sijpesteijnkade and Mineurslaan and the development of a flyover for public transport, which is used by buses and light rail. Furthermore, we conducted transport studies and created the architectural design for the flyover.
