My Thuy Deep Sea Port feasibility study

Quang Tri province has a strategic geographic position considering the international trading routes and hinterland connections. To date, Quang Tri province has no port facilities with the capacity to contribute to the necessary economic and social development of the region.

The Vietnamese authorities intend to develop My Thuy deep sea port and South East Quang Tri Marine Special Economic Zones (SEZ). The development of the My Thuy deep sea port is expected to attract a variety of marine-related industries, such as shipbuilding and coastal transportation, oil- and gas industry, power plants, and bulk materials processing industries. A master plan was prepared based on cargo forecast and expected industrial development. SVA and Kunhwa have carried out a feasibility study for the preferred option from this master plan.

Witteveen+Bos was asked to update this previously prepared study and elaborate with review activities and provision of second opinions. Special attention was paid to the socio-economic effect of the port on the region.
