Meteocean Study

Witteveen+Bos provided consultancy services on meteocean studies for our client PMI Marine & Construction Services in Ghana, in 2016. The assignment was needed as part of the design of a combined cycle power plant (450 MW) being developed at Aboadze, Ghana. Witteveen+Bos collected, reviewed and analysed bathymetrical data; offshore wind, wave, temperature and current data from measurement stations; satellite observations and global models.

We also produced and verified numerical hydrodynamic models (Delft3D) and a spectral wave model (SWAN) of the Ghanaian Coast, including the project area in high detail. Our tasks also included assessment of multi-year current and wave conditions and water levels and assessment of extreme (design) current and wave conditions and water levels, both by means of numerical model simulations with Delft3D and SWAN.
