GAMA Faecal Sludge Assessment

In 2016, Witteveen+Bos was involved in the GAMA World Bank project regarding urban sanitation. The project involved the technical assessment of septage/feacal sludge management along the value chain from collection to treatment.

We assessed treatment technologies, prepared preliminary engineering designs and assisted with strategic planning for the GAMA area together with our partner Colan Consult Ltd. Our activities specifically were assessment of existing treatment facilities and potential sites, review of feacal sludge treatment technologies, data collection, analyses on faecal sludge generation and cesspit emptying services, design of appropriate treatment facilities, assessment of institutional arrangements and management of treatment facilities, and assisting in preparation of strategic plan for management of Faecal Sludge in GAMA.
