Cycling and walking plan East Hampshire

The Witteveen+Bos UK team conducted the first phase of the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan for the 515 km2 area of East Hampshire. This is a delightfully pretty rural setting, which includes areas of the South Downs National Park, and diverse range of rural towns and village settlements.

The project started before the Department of Transport (DfT) release of the LCWIP process; the team seized the opportunity to adapt the scope of works to this framework as part of the process of condensing range of transport, development and cycling strategies into more specific walking and cycling infrastructure investment needs. The project included network appraisal, stakeholder engagement with communities in five larger towns and five village settlements, high level cost estimates, indicative cycle parking provision and an initial framework for delivery partners.
