Witteveen+Bos’s Odour Lab and Odour Balance: partners in odour

Witteveen+Bos and Odour Balance B.V. have agreed to collaborate in the field of odour measurements and analyses in the Dutch and Belgian markets under the name SOK OBWB. On Tuesday 14 February they confirmed this by signing an agreement.

Odour Balance works in the field of biological odour treatment. Their services include producing, installing, maintaining and renovating biofilters for clients in the (agri)food sector, waste processors, wastewater treatment plants, composting companies, etc.

The company has divided its service/product portfolio into three areas: odour treatment, biofilter materials and odour measurement/advice. In the last of these areas, Witteveen+Bos and Odour Balance will now be working more closely together.

Growth up ahead

‘Both companies benefit from this collaboration,’ explains Jeroen Melcherts, team leader at Witteveen+Bos’s Odour Lab. ‘We’ve been conducting odour analyses for Odour Balance for about two years now. Witteveen+Bos is called in whenever Odour Balance’s clients need independent, accredited odour measurements. We clearly see growth up ahead.’

Both companies also see opportunities for synergy in terms of staff and premises. Odour Balance employees will be collaborating with colleagues from the Odour Lab, providing both parties with extra flexibility. As an additional advantage, W+B’s specialists will also easily be able to share their knowledge with the OB colleagues. Mike Assink, Odour Lab’s project director, is also pleased: ‘This collaboration provides us with a stable workload of both analyses and measurements and, thanks to the cooperation in terms of staff, allows us to serve the market even more flexibly.’

Integrated approach

‘Witteveen+Bos has lots of knowledge and experience in the field of odour analysis and advice. This fits in perfectly with our activities and with an integrated approach to odour. We speak the same language and complement each other well,’ explains Niels Sevensma, director of Odour Balance.

Finally, there are advantages in terms of market approach: both companies operate in similar markets and, where possible, will be able to support one another. Melcherts: ‘We look forward with confidence to the collaboration.’
