Witteveen+Bos opens pop-up office in Wageningen

On 25 September 2018, Witteveen+Bos opened a pop-up office on the Wageningen University & Research (WUR) campus. During the festive meeting in the Impulse building, where the office is located, the starting signal for intensified collaboration was celebrated with the university, knowledge institutions, campus companies and engineers of Witteveen+Bos. The intention is that the various parties meet, inspire each other and initiate collaborations from the new office.

With the pop-up office on the Wageningen Campus, Witteveen+Bos' ambition is to become a connecting link between Wageningen's scientific research and the daily practice of the engineering firm. Director Stephan van der Biezen of Witteveen+Bos: 'We are convinced that through cooperation between knowledge institutions, governments and the business community, we can create added value for all parties, so that the world can be passed on to future generations in a sustainable way based on everyone's own knowledge and expertise'. During the opening, programme director Marjo Lexmond (WUR) said that the visible presence of companies is of great importance for students to get in touch with practice. In addition, aquatic ecologist Wolf Mooij of NIOO-KNAW explained that cooperation in the golden triangle of government, industry and knowledge institutions may present challenges, but is very much needed, for example, to tackle the problem of climate change. Ivo Demmers (programme leader sustainable water management at the WUR) indicated that the presence of a knowledge-driven engineering firm on the Campus could also be an incentive for the WUR to seek further cooperation. He specifically pointed out international challenges in the combination of water and food security.

About Witteveen+Bos pop-up offices
Witteveen+Bos is experimenting with pop-up offices close to colleges and universities that are important to the organisation. In principle, these offices are temporary in nature. These are places where Witteveen+Bos staff, students, clients and partners can meet each other easily and learn from each other. The first pop-up office, located on the Wageningen University & Research campus, will mainly focus on collaborations within the themes of Smart Cities, Smart Cycles and Smart Deltas.
