Restoration of Palu Bay ports

A consortium consisting of AECOM Indonesia, Diagram Triproporsi, Atrya Swascipta Rekayasa, Cita Prisma and Witteveen+Bos Indonesia has won the tender for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of three harbours in the Bay of Palu, in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Earthquakes and a tsunami caused significant loss of life and serious damage to infrastructure in September 2018. The ports of Pantoloan, Donggala and Wani in Palu Bay also suffered massive damage. The berth structure, electrical facilities, cargo handling, office buildings, warehouse, road access and communication facilities were all damaged.

The rehabilitation and reconstruction of the port included a feasibility study, a master plan, a detailed engineering design and construction supervision. In this project lasting nearly three years, Witteveen+Bos’ main task has been to prepare the conceptual and detailed engineering design of the port facilities, to assist in the tendering procedure, and to manage the project during the supervision phase. The tender is financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
