‘Mastermind’ Jordy Vos runner-up in EFCA’s Future Leaders’ Competition

Jordy Vos, project manager at Witteveen+Bos, was today awarded the second runner-up prize in EFCA’s twelfth annual Future Leaders’ Competition. The jury called Vos a ‘mastermind’ whose work was ground-breaking. He impressed the judges with his goal of ‘making engineering and construction the most sustainable and cost-effective industry by switching to working digitally’, as well as his drive to achieve this. Matthijs Stam also reached the top ten of this prestigious international competition.

In the words of the jury, ‘Jordy’s ability to absorb new knowledge, his self-reflection and his modesty make him a true leader’, earning him the prize for second runner-up with his Integrated Building Information System. Jordy is group leader of the Digital Construction group at Witteveen+Bos Singapore. In the six years he has worked at Witteveen+Bos, he has developed his knowledge of digital construction and come to specialise in it 3D concrete printing in particular. ‘By digitalising construction on a large scale and using technologies like 3D concrete printing, the construction industry is starting a new chapter: the serial production of unique products. With the help of digital 3D models, we are making big steps in efficiency and moving towards an affordable method of making unique constructions’.

Krzysztof Wojslaw of Oslo, Norway won first prize for his state-of-the-art E16 Randselva Bridge project. Tor Martin of Lytstad, Denmark won second prize from a total of seventeen entries from seven countries. The winners will receive their prizes at the EFCA conference in June 2022. In recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of engineering among young professionals in the industry, the jury also awarded an honourable mention to Matthijs Stam, who came in fifth.
