International cooperation for airport inspections

For client Brussels Airport Company (BAC), the asset managers at Witteveen+Bos are carrying out a multitude of A inspections and surveying work on nine different types of structures, including tunnels, viaducts, car parks and bus stations. The activities also include concrete diagnostics for two tunnels and the visual inspection of the road surface on Landside and Landside Restricted.

By using this approach for the inspections and surveying activities, the BAC is seeking to assess the safety, durability and collapse risk of all elements of the structures that could compromise the stability thereof and the safety of road users.

The reports ultimately serve as input for a comprehensive management and maintenance strategy to keep the structures in a good state of repair in the coming years. The results of the concrete diagnostics testing will also be used to draw up tender documents.

The project is being carried out by a team of Belgian and Dutch companies, including specialists from various Witteveen+Bos offices. This joint collaboration ensures that specialist knowledge from the various disciplines can be used optimally and in the most versatile and comprehensive way possible. This way, Witteveen+Bos has the opportunity to showcase its approach and distinguish itself from the competition on an international stage.
