Witteveen+Bos engineering firm opens new office in Utrecht

Engineering firm Witteveen+Bos opened an office in the Dutch city of Utrecht on Monday 1 July. At this office, fifty engineers and advisors will focus on issues such as climate adaptation, healthy and smart cities and spatial planning, geotechnics and delta technology and ecological advice. The connection with the good labour market, the favourable market developments and the growth potential in the region will be explicitly sought.

The growing engineering firm chose for Utrecht on the basis of its good accessibility and central location, the presence of various partners and local attention to the themes of the future. 'In both the city and the province a lot of attention is paid to climate adaptation, circular construction, participation, water safety and water availability, the energy transition and 'healthy urban living', says location manager Wim van den Berg. 'These are interesting issues for the future that we, as an engineering firm, like to work on.'

The team in Utrecht is made up of knowledge clusters that can give substance to the above themes. 'Witteveen+Bos likes to work with knowledge partners such as Utrecht University and Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and clients such as RIVM, Rijkswaterstaat, contractors, municipalities, water boards and the province', says Van den Berg.

The choice of location for the office was also inspired by the reduction of travel time for its employees and by sustainability. The office is centrally located in the country, in the middle of the shopping area of Hoog Catharijne. The location, a 2-minute walk from the station, encourages public transport. Witteveen+Bos also has branches in the Netherlands in Deventer, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Breda, The Hague, Heerenveen, Rotterdam and Wageningen. Witteveen+Bos has 13 offices in 10 countries.
