InBeeld participation platform applied in Singapore

InBeeld is a participation platform developed in the Netherlands which facilitates resident and stakeholder involvement in projects for the built environment. Based on open maps and supplemented with a feature allowing suggestions and feedback, the platform enables participation in a visually accessible and transparent way. InBeeld is now also being deployed outside the Netherlands for the first time, in two neighbourhood-upgrade programmes in Singapore.

The programmes are a collaborative effort by several government agencies, led by the National Parks Board, to improve the living environment of residents through the upgrading of public access and recreational facilities. Witteveen+Bos South-East Asia and the local consultancy firm Strategic Moves have been engaged to manage stakeholder participation. Strategic Moves is responsible for the overall coordination and for face-to-face stakeholder participation, while Witteveen+Bos is contributing to the project by deploying the InBeeld platform. In international use, InBeeld is called YourView. In Singapore, YourView has made it possible to collect insights that are helping to determine which ideas are most important for upgrading the neighbourhoods. By means of a website, residents and other stakeholders can share their ideas on the improvements they would most like to see. The YourView platform has ensured that, in spite of the situation surrounding corona, everyone can express their suggestions and ideas in the safety of their own homes.
