Clean drinking water for everyone

Worldwide, nearly 700 million people have no access to clean drinking water. This is 1 in 10 people. Clean drinking water reduces infection and disease rates. There is enough drinking water for everyone in the world but problems including poor infrastructure and economic conditions still result in millions of deaths each year related to diseases caused by contaminated drinking water or poor hygiene.

Worldwide, 2.4 billion people have no access to clean toilets and other sanitary facilities. This is 1 in 3 people. Good sanitary facilities will reduce infection and disease rates. In addition, clean toilets in schools will also enable more girls to attend school, also during their period.

How does Witteveen+Bos support this transformation?

To improve water quality, pollution must be stopped and more wastewater must be treated. In addition, by 2030, all countries must have an adequately functioning water management system and sanitary facilities must be in place. Through its projects, Witteveen+Bos is able to contribute to these goals to ensure clean drinking water and sanitary facilities for everyone.
