The ‘Participatory Design’ principle means that designs should not be created for stakeholders, but together with stakeholders. This approach increases public support and enables work to be performed more efficiently. It will boost the positive impact.
Future users and people who may be adversely affected by the design are given an active role in the design process. Witteveen+Bos has develop an in-house, evidence-based statistical method for measuring public support. We draw up a participation and communication strategy for each project, and try to ensure that stakeholders become truly involved and engaged. Their local knowledge and ideas simply improve the quality of the design.
