• Energy is at the heart of progress. Energy is needed for prosperity and well-being worldwide. Energy is needed to live and work. That is why it is important for people around the world to have access to energy sources.

Dossier Energy transition

One of the most important challenges in the worldwide energy transition is how we can combine new, sustainable energy solutions from production to distribution and use in one integrated system. The important thing here is to see things from the point of view of the end-user, government, industry and consumers.

With the energy transition and circular ambitions, our clients face a major challenge with complicated combinations of options. We see our task as assisting our clients with our expertise throughout the entire value chain of energy generation, storage, distribution and use. In achieving the energy transition we aim to make the best possible use of the opportunities arising for health, safety and nature, and to prevent or minimise negative effects. In a special edtion of our Witteveen+Bos News and on this general webpage we aim to provide insight into Witteveen+Bos’ energy expertise and the integrated solutions we offer.

Integral approach to energy

One of the most important challenges in the worldwide energy transition is how we can combine new, sustainable energy solutions from production to distribution and use in one integrated system. With our expertise, we help our customers throughout the value chain from generation, storage, distribution and advice to optimise energy consumption.

Our integral approach

Flextore II

A new type of energy storage is being tested in the FleXtore II project. Energy storage is needed to be able to use all the renewable energy generated by solar panels or wind turbines, for example. In addition, this hydrogen bromide flow battery can be used to absorb peaks and troughs in energy supply and price.

Geothermal energy

Geothermal energy, the production of heat from the deep underground, is a promising, sustainable alternative to heat from natural gas. There is a great need for sustainable heat in the Netherlands. The prognosis is that geothermal energy can make a significant contribution to our heat supply in the future. The road ahead is challenging, with many uncertainties. A route that needs to be developed carefully, step by step.
