Annual report 2019

In 2019, Witteveen+Bos employees worldwide were involved in more than 4,000 projects, working on issues like CO2 neutral and circular construction, sustainable infrastructure, the energy transition, flood protection, climate adaptation and improvement of industrial processes. We increasingly provide digital services, for example in the field of participation, where online plays an increasingly important role. This is how we work on the best solutions together with our clients and the environment. In our annual report, we eleborate on this and show examples. Via this page we like to offer some additional information.

Innovative water projects

In 2019, a project on which Witteveen+Bos works together with partners, Water Factory Wilp, won De Vernufteling from Koninklijke NLingenieurs. This prize is awarded to the engineering firm with the most innovative project and the winner is selected by a jury of experts. The data-driven BlueCan tool was also nominated for De Vernufteling. This too demonstrates in practice how surface water can be used as a solution to CO₂ emissions. The principles in Water Factory Wilp and BlueCan can potentially be applied worldwide.

Integral approach to energy

One of the most important challenges in the worldwide energy transition is how we can combine new, sustainable energy solutions from production to distribution and use in one integrated system. With our expertise, we help our customers throughout the value chain from generation, storage, distribution and advice to optimise energy consumption.

DRR-Teams: solutions for disasters and reconstruction

How do you make drinking water and sanitation less vulnerable to natural disasters? What can you do to cope with the increasing volatility in weather patterns? What measures can we take to prevent possible dam breakthroughs? These are just a few of the questions in the field of water management, water safety and water supply that Witteveen+Bos experts are confronted with during their participation in the Dutch Risk Reduction Team (DRR) mission.
