Waste
Witteveen+Bos operates nationally and internationally in the field of waste. In the Netherlands we work on developing environmental stations, waste collection projects, recycling companies, business processes and logistics. The considerable variance in the size of these projects is illustrated by environmental stations that range from a simple street level station for three waste components to a network of six stations handling more than 20 waste components.
A preliminary study is an important part of the development path. The first step is to make logistical capacity calculations. These calculations are necessary as a basis for producing appropriate plans. The contracts that we undertake span all parts of the development path, from preliminary study to construction, including licences and associated environmental studies of a technical nature.
Internationally, we work mainly in Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and Indonesia. Our work in these territories includes examining municipal waste collection services, introducing improvements and carrying out pilot projects for waste processing equipment. We are also involved in other countries on the improvement of landfills. In Eastern Europe (Czech Republic and Romania) this work principally consists of supporting governments in complying with European Directives (like the EU directives covering packaging and white and brown goods).
