Ports and waterways
For decades Witteveen+Bos has been advising clients nationally and internationally on ports and waterways. Our objective is to prepare, manage and supervise the construction and development of ports and waterways qualitatively, quickly and efficiently. We excel in the fields of:
- port development: strategic recommendations, transport economics, master planning and financial/economic feasibility
- port infrastructure: quays, jetty structures, land reclamation and other infrastructure for seaports and inland port terminals and marinas
- waterways: nautical consultancy (including analysing bottlenecks) for port access channels, inland waterways, locks, bridges, stopping points for ships waiting to dock and other infrastructure
- shipping: analysis and modeling of shipping (both inland and sea), such as berth occupancy, forecasting, marine safety and enforcement.
Our international projects are in territories including Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey and the Caribbean. In the Netherlands, we are a consultant to all world-class ports.
Our clients include port authorities, contractors, oil and gas companies, international financing institutions (like the EC, EBRD, ADB, WB and EuropeAid) and other public and private parties. We participate in the maritime foundations of Amsterdam Port Consultants and Rotterdam Maritime Group. We also sit on PIANC committees and CUR committees.
