Dutch engineering firm stages Kazakhstan festival

(31-03-2011)

Kazakhstan is a relatively unknown country for many people. To change this situation engineering firm Witteveen+Bos is organising a festival dedicated to Kazakhstan from 21 to 28 April 2011.

The festival, called ‘Discover Kazakhstan’, consists of two parts. The film The Gift to Stalin will be shown in the De Keizer cinema in Deventer on 21 April 2011. On 28 April 2011 the main event will take place in Deventer Theatre. The evening will be opened by the Kazakhstan Ambassador to the Netherlands, Ms Mainura Murzamadiyeva. Using several themes, presentor Annemarie van Gaal will give the audience the opportunity to discover various aspects of Kazakhstan.

This year Witteveen+Bos celebrates it’s first office opening in Kazakhstan ten years ago.  The experiences gained by Witteveen+Bos staff in the country are often exceptional and positive. It is for that reason that the firm wishes to share its experiences with a wider audience. “The purpose of the festival is to let a bigger public as well as our business relations and employees see the many striking and impressive aspects of the country,” said Henk Nieboer, managing director of the International arm of Witteveen+Bos. “By organising this festival we hope to contribute positively to Kazakhstan’s image in the Netherlands.”

Together with other parties Witteveen+Bos has fleshed out the programme of the ‘Discover Kazakhstan’ festival. Air Astana has sponsored tickets for two of the musicians, for example, while travel agent Kazachstan Reizen is putting on part of the programme. The Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion is organising its Kazakhstan Aziada network meeting for members and non-members in Deventer Theatre prior to the festival.

The festival is open to everybody who wants to learn more about Kazakhstan. Tickets are on sale via www.deventerschouwburg.nl (€5 per ticket) and tickets for the film can be purchased via www.filmhuisdekeizer.nl (€7 per ticket).
