International
There is a big international demand for the services provided by Witteveen+Bos, especially in the fields where our firm hold a good position in the Dutch market.
Our services centre on preparation, transport and distribution of drinking water, effluent treatment, water quality management, the environment, waste management, ports, dredging, coastal water engineering, river water engineering and tunnels. Our national and international clients expect and receive knowledge-intensive services with high added value.
No international department
Witteveen+Bos does not have a separate international department. We have integrated our Dutch and international work because our philosophy is that alternately assigning our employees to national and international projects repeatedly offers them new challenges and is conducive to development of their careers. Internationally, we work for clients who rely on us to deliver the same high-quality technological solutions worldwide. That is another reason why there is little point in Witteveen+Bos having a separate international department.
Active abroad
We conduct a selective policy on the geographical areas that we serve. Besides operating in nearby countries (like Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom) we have been active for more than 25 years in Indonesia and in the Caribbean. Witteveen+Bos maintains an office in Jakarta. We additionally have offices in Aktau, Atyrau and Almaty (Kazakhstan), Riga (Latvia) and St. Petersburg (Russia). In the Caribbean we cooperate very closely with Civil Engineering Caribbean (CEC), a company with offices on Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten. Since 1990 there has been a great demand in central and eastern Europe for the kind of engineering expertise and know-how that we provide. Over the past two decades we have been involved in projects in numerous central and eastern European countries. In 2009 we opened our Belgian office in Antwerp.
SEEN
Together with engineering firms NIRAS (Denmark), Sogreah (France) and Tyréns (Sweden), Witteveen+Bos is a member of the Strategic European Expertise Network (SEEN). These independent firms rank are among the top in their respective countries – not in size, but in quality and in service. We exchange knowledge with each other via knowledge clusters in which we discuss interesting engineering developments and make them available for the members’ domestic markets. The firms also jointly develop new products and services and cooperate with each other in various projects in Eastern Europe, Africa and China.
Cooperation agreements
Witteveen+Bos undertakes major international projects through structural cooperation agreements with selected engineering firms. For projects concerning drinking water and effluent, we cooperate with Anglo-American engineering firm Montgomery Watson Harza and German firms Hydro Ingenieure and Wetzel+Partners. For railway projects in the Netherlands and other countries, we have established with Germany's DB International a partnership called VOF Transport Consultants and Engineering (TCE). For central and eastern Europe, we have set up a strategic alliance with Tebodin, Consultants and Engineers, a Dutch firm with a complementary range of services in the fields of water and hydraulic engineering infrastructure.
Witteveen+Bos is one of the cofounders of NEDECO (Netherlands Engineering Consultants), a cooperative venture of Dutch consultancies active on the international stage.
