Air contaminants like nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter and odour pose environmental problems that require considerable attention. We advise public and private sector clients on how to tackle issues surrounding air pollution and odour. Our work in this field often relates to environmental licences, environmental impact reports and zoning plans.
Witteveen+Bos measures emissions and conducts odour studies to validate applications for and the granting of licences and to provide control and enforcement support. The quality of our work is assured through our accreditation by the Dutch Accreditation Council.
Witteveen+Bos conducts air quality studies along roads and around industrial sites. We advise authorities on exercising their powers under the Air Quality Act (Environmental Management Act). We also provide legal support.
Witteveen+Bos performs research into depositions of nitrogen (and also other components) along roads, around industrial sites and near livestock farms. Nitrogen depositions contribute to manuring, so nutrient-poor nature degrades in terms of variety of species and quality. The calculations that we make are for the purpose of determining whether there are significant consequences for nature in Natura 2000 areas and whether a project conflicts with targets for conserving a specific Natura 2000 area.
